Starting the playoffs against the defending NBA champions provided the Oklahoma City Thunder a chance to show how far they've come after losing to the Dallas Mavericks in last year's playoffs. It didn't take long for the Thunder to finish off that challenge.

The NBA champion Dallas Mavericks were swept out of the first round of the playoffs as the Oklahoma City Thunder wrapped up their Western Conference series with a 103-97 victory. James Harden on Saturday scored 15 of his 29 points in the fourth quarter as the Thunder won their fourth straight in the best-of-seven series to make the Mavericks the first defending champions to be swept in the first round since the Miami Heat in 2007. Kevin Durant added 24 points and 11 rebounds and Russell Westbrook finished with 12 points, six assists and five rebounds for the second-seeded Thunder.

(Reuters) - The Oklahoma City Thunder roared home with a final quarter blitz to eliminate last season's NBA champions Dallas from the Western Conference playoffs, rallying for a 103-97 victory on Saturday. Also in the West, San Antonio surged into a 3-0 series lead over the Utah Jazz and the Los Angeles Clippers moved into a 2-1 lead over Memphis , while in the Eastern Conference the Indiana Pacers took a 3-1 series lead over Orlando.

DALLAS — — James Harden scored 15 of his 29 points in the fourth quarter as Oklahoma City rallied for a 103-97 victory Saturday night to sweep the defending NBA champion Dallas Mavericks out of the playoffs. The Thunder trailed by 13 points with 9:44 left before Harden scored seven in a row, and nine in a 12-0 run over the next 3 minutes.
